See what happened when Modern Jago opened its doors
Modern Jago is Microsoft's new space in Shoreditch for designers, developers and artists. We run and host events and open the space for folks to come down and co-work. Want to find out more about the space? You can have a chat to us on Twitter or Facebook, or find us in a bunch of other places.
Under the glow of an October evening we opened the doors of Modern Jago. Our opening event played host to an inspiring mix of creative, ridiculously talented and excited people. Just the type we want to see more of at Modern Jago!
There was a wonderful atmosphere of networking, discovery and the seeds of collaboration were sewn; all to a backdrop of live music, artwork and visualisations.
In fact, one visualisation spread its way across an entire wall over the course of the evening, as more and more people collaborated to build on the artist’s initial ideas. Some hilarity also ensuing once visitors got their hands on the Windows Phone and the often scarily realistic Face Swap app.
In our upper space amongst the rafters and crisp white walls a brilliant photographic project by the talented and engaging Jamie Mcgregor Smith was being exhibited. Look out for our interview with Jamie about his “Borrow, Build, Abandon” project appearing in the next few days. If you’ve got work you’d like to exhibit, get in touch and tell us more.
A fine selection of live music came from London’s Dirty Leaves, who loved the ideas behind Modern Jago and are already thinking of ways they can collaborate with other artists and creatives within the space. Keep your eyes peeled for an interview with this talented trio, along with chats with other inspiring locals in the coming weeks.
We can’t wait to meet you and see what amazing work can be born out of Modern Jago.
If you’d like to come to future events or find out how to use this amazing space to play, learn, collaborate and even host your own event – please get in touch on Twitter, Facebook or App.net.
